Association For Retail Environments

Organization founded in 1956 to represent professionals in the retail construction, maintenance and operations fields. Activities include: conferences and events, career center, annual design competition, bimonthly magazine and online resources.

Four levels of membership are available: regular, associate, designer and visual merchandising. Benefits vary by level. Information available online. International Council of Shopping Centers

Global association founded in 1957 that focuses on the shopping center sector of the retail industry. Connects to more than 25 national and regional shopping center councils worldwide. Activities include: industry promotion, establishment of fair ethics codes, events, programs, design and architecture research and collecting and distributing industry information.

Membership, made up of approximately 70,000 members in over 80 countries, is available at six levels: regular, associate, affiliate, public/academic, public/academic affiliate and student. National Retail Federation

Largest international retail trade association with membership from all areas of the industry. Includes four association groups: the Association for Retail Technology Standards, the National Council of Chain Restaurants, the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association and Shop.org, as well as research and education divisions.

Activities include: monthly magazine, government relations and lobbying, human resources, marketing and merchandising research, professional development and information technology.

The Retail Advertising and Marketing Association

A division of the National Retail Federation representing retail advertising and marketing professionals. Focuses on creative, innovative approaches to success in the field.

Activities include: annual international Retail Advertising Conference, annual awards competition, research, outlooks and government relations.
